My name is Michael Fischer. I recently obtained my Bachelor of Science in atmospheric science from Florida International University in the Spring of 2013. This fall I will enter the PhD program at SUNY Albany in atmospheric sciences.
I have always had a passion for weather, specifically tropical cyclones. I have always believed the reason for this is the fact that my house experienced the northern eyewall of Hurricane Andrew in August, 1992. I wasn’t even two years old yet at the time, but my first memories are of construction workers repairing the aftermath of my family’s house. The raw, immense power of a hurricane has fueled my desire to learn as much as I can about the atmosphere and tropical cyclones.
